Finding the clarity and the courage to speak truth in love about cultural issues when our Biblical worldview is mocked in the public square is getting harder. But it can suddenly get easier! Let me explain.
When we are in actual RELATIONSHIP with God, not just knowing "about" Him but really "knowing" Him, then we don't have a problem with courage or speaking truth anymore.
Let's think about it for a minute. When we begin to nurture a relationship with anyone, it requires spending time getting to know their heart, their experiences, their hopes, etc. Well, it's the same for getting to know God. When we spend time with Him, we learn the nature of His heart, his experiences, and we discover His hopes for us by reading the Bible. It's His love letter to us.
The Holy Spirit is our "Helper". He helps us understand how God's word applies to our daily lives. He also "helps" us by stepping in and rescuing us in those awkward conversations. He is real and as you see Him do this more and more, your trust in Him will deepen more and more. It's pretty amazing!
So, when we encounter a moment where we need clarity and courage, we can say, "God, give me the words". This instantly fills us with the wisdom for the moment and then the spiritual courage to speak truth in love.
He will literally put the words in our mouth, and most importantly, with the right attitude to deliver them. He will then bring the courage to deliver the most helpful words, not because of our knowledge, but because of His supernatural wisdom in that particular situation. This has been my experience over and over again, so that's what I'm speaking to you today from.
Don't try and do this on your own. Invite Him to every conversation, stay in your Bible so that His words are always fresh on your mind, and then ask Him to guide you in wisdom to deliver them with love. Let me know how it goes!
