Let's face it...the news is not good. We have millions of migrants here who likely mean us great harm and are plotting a terrorist attack any day now. We are paddling to keep our heads above water financially. We have lost loved ones and friends over political division. We are witnessing our children and grandchildren under demonic attack. Not to mention we're seeing multiple assassination attempts on our Presidential candidate.
Fear is an understandable response. We are human.
So, when God tells us in the Bible to "Fear Not", HOW are we supposed to do that, especially in light of these news headlines?
God never said we wouldn't feel fear, He just told us not to let it stop us.
There are obvious situations where fear is an indicator to run for safety, but as we apply His wisdom in the spiritual sense, He said we are to STAND. That's our job. To STAND. Not to run or cower away because of that fear.
I'm not going to sit here and try to tell you that I've mastered this. I would by lying. But what I can tell you is that the moment we notice we are feeling fearful, that's our queue to fixate our eyes back on Jesus. He is the only One who can calm those fears.
Bad things are going to happen. We are in a fallen world. But the beautiful thing is that, when we truly know God, He is with us no matter what. The way I interpret that is that even in the worst-case scenario, He will give us the ability to endure it and overcome it.
When we need Him, He shows up and shows out. He has already overcome this world. I love Psalm 118:6 "The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do to me?"
We need to remember who our DADDY is! We can stare our enemy down, with authority, and STAND. We should be like David and ready to run to the spiritual battle line. We should walk into lion's dens like Daniel. This is our heritage. This is our lineage. Heros. Warriors. Conquerors.
None of these people did anything in their own strength. They had God and angel armies beside, in front of, and behind them. The enemy must flee at the name of Jesus. So, pick up your spiritual shield and your sword of God's word and remember WHOSE you are!
